The Montor Module contains three aux master amplifiers with hi-low shelving EQ's. The module is installed two or three times in a master section S. The third module is needed for consoles with more than 6 aux sends. A complete playback section with talkback facilities and a stereo effect return are included. |

Monitor Module with Playback Section and Aux Master Units in Master Section S The Monitor Module MON-S is a combination of a stereo effect return, 3 aux master sections and a playback - talkback section. The monitor module of the master section s is installed 2 or 3 times in a master section. Each module contains a stereo return input, 3 aux master sections, and a playback section. Two modules are necessary for consoles with 6 aux masters. Consoles with 8 or 9 aux masters require a third monitor module. Aux Master Amplifiers The 3 aux master sections identically implemented. The output of the aux bus amp feeds a shelving HI-LOW that is inserted by the EQ switch. The master fader is a rotary control that feeds the output buffer that offers a maximum gain of 10 dB. The cut switch mutes the particular aux master output, which is transformer balanced and floating. The PFL switch makes it possible to rout the signal to the PFL bus. Playback Section The Playback Section of the monitor module combines a conventional source selection with a summing selector. There are switches for all the aux sends in stereo configuration (AUX 1-2, AUX 3-4, ...), Cue, Mix and an additional switch that can be used for the output of the tape select or the control room main select. A jumper blocks determines the function of this switch. If CUE or MIX is selected, up to two aux sends can be added to the selected signal. Two thumbwheel switches select aux 1 to aux 9. While Aux1 to Aux6 are standardized with all versions of the 5MT mixing consoles, Aux7, 8 and 9 are different from version to version. With the D Series consoles, position 7 is Extension Send left and position 8 is extension send right. Some versions of the Series S have 9 aux sends. This feature offers the opportunity to make several versions out of a basic mix, just by adding aux sends to the main mix that can be either the cue master or the mix master. The selected signal feeds the mono matrix that is inserted by the MNO switch the talkback section. Every playback section contains an automatic talkback switch and a talkback level control pot. All playback sections are driven from the TB STU switch. However, the push pull switch of the talkback can disable the automatic talkback switching for a particular talkback section. In addition, the talkback signal is always available on an additional talkback output on the connector panel that can be used to install an active talkback speaker in the studio. The DIM function attenuates the level by 20 dB. It can be operated automatically with Talkback The CUT switch mutes the output of the unit. A stereo rotary pot controls the output level. The maximum gain is 10 dB. The outputs of the playback section are transformer balanced and can drive several headphones in parallel without that an additional headphone amp is necessary.
